Wellness, island style.

No strict schedule. No protocol. Just sea air, silence, slow hands, unraveling and the kind of sleep you forgot was possible.

Some places ask you to do wellness. This one just lets you arrive into it.

By the second day, you will have stopped checking the time. By the third, your shoulders will have let go of something you did not know you were carrying. Wellness here is a subconscious default, just surrender to the natural flow at the cabanas.

pole pole — slowly, slowly

What the island does to you.

Six things that quietly do the work.

i.

The sea air

Off the channel, salt-laced and thick with negative ions. The lungs widen on their own.

breath
ii.

The silence

No cars on Lamu. The loudest sound is the morning bird chorus, the call to prayer at dusk, or the trade wind through the palms.

stillness
iii.

The barefoot day

Sand, polished stone, ocean kicks. Shoes off and stay off.

grounding
iv.

The deep sleep

Fresh ironed sheets, net cocooned beds, the trade wind drifts through. Eight hours, then nine, then ten — and you stop apologising for it.

rest
v.

The plate

Fish caught that morning, fruit from our organic orchard, vegetables from the village. Plant-forward by default. Heavy nothing.

nourish
vi.

The water

The soft pool at noon. The Indian Ocean at five. The phosphorescent magic some nights, skinny dips if you dare.

immerse
The open-sided thatched studio of the Zen Den — thatched ceiling, soft light, palms beyond

A climate controlled  studio

It is a yoga studio, a treatment room, a meditation space and a quiet corner — depending on the hour, and on you. Visit any time of day, for a massage, a reflexology session, a yoga class, or simply to sit cool silence.

Yanna Stergianos - Wellness Manager

Yanna, on the mat

Yanna Stergianos is our resident wellness manager and yoga teacher. Born in the coastal town of Hermanus, South Africa. A 200hr Yoga Alliance certified teacher and resident ray of sunshine at The Cabanas.

Yanna guides the morning vinyasa, the slow yin at sunset, and private one-to-ones in between, welcoming everyone from curious beginners to seasoned practitioners. Breathwork, pranayama, intuitive movement, and a calm, steady presence weave through her classes.

With a background in medicine, a lifelong connection to the ocean, and a deeply rooted belief in holistic well-being and environmental stewardship, she’s very at home with the Cabanas Family. Whether in the studio, barefoot on the sand, or immersed in the water, she creates experiences that awaken presence, connection, and a sense of coming home to yourself.

Anna, Neuro-somatic architect

The Cabanas’ founder, Anna Campbell, is an Integrative Health Coach and CEO who guides high-achieving women toward a deeper mastery of their physical and mental health. Anna specializes in neuro-somatic conditioning, a practice that bridges the gap between the mind and the body. She helps women reclaim their health, transforming it from a neglected afterthought into an unshakable foundation. In this space of physiological alignment, resilience becomes effortless, and a 'competitive' life is replaced by one of profound clarity, happiness, and ease.

With a foundational background studying Neuroscience, Nutrition and Yoga, and a career testing the limits of human endurance, from professional sport, wildlife filmmaking to winning BBC’s Last Woman Standing, Anna has lived a life of grit and grace that taught her vitality does not come from pushing harder, but from mastering the nervous system’s ability to recover. She has curated The Cabanas and Mukima Manor as living altars to this philosophy, sanctuaries designed to catch you when you are ready to let go. To stay at either of her hotels is more than a getaway; it is a gift of self-love and care.
