001 · The retreat
A week to come back to yourself.
Karibu sana. For seven days the island sets the pace, the way Lamu has always moved. Mornings begin on the mat as the tide turns; days unfold between salt water, sunlight and rest; evenings close with the sun falling into the channel right in front of our island nest.
This is a conscious, gentle reset for the whole system: a week designed to ease the nervous system back into its rest, digest and repair mode.
We pair intermittent fasting with twice-daily yoga, ginger and turmeric tonics and vegetarian Swahili cooking, so the body is nourished while it unwinds. Nothing here is compulsory. Everything is an invitation, supported by our wellness team.
i.
Intermittent fasting
An eating window from brunch to sunset dinner: around sixteen gentle hours of digestive rest each day, without a single hungry sunset.
ii.
Healing yoga
Twice daily on the mat: movement to wake the body, yin to soften it, and yoga nidra to still it before sleep.
iii.
Island tonics
Ginger, turmeric, lime, cayenne and island honey, taken daily as morning tonics, fire shots and nourishment bowls.
iv.
Digital detox (optional)
Wi-Fi off in your cabana, phones put away, the outside world kept at bay. Sea air, barefoot ground and sleep restored do the rest.
Whoever you are

The eating window opens at brunch and closes after dinner, roughly sixteen hours of rest for digestion each day. Everything is vegetarian, from a set, healthy menu made in our kitchen with what the island and its nearby farms offer.
Ginger tea tonic
Fresh ginger steeped with lime and island honey: the first warmth of the morning.
Immunity fire shot
Ginger, turmeric, black pepper and citrus, taken in one brave sip before brunch.

Six nights, softly structured.
Arrival
Settle in, swim and find your corner of the beach. Before dinner we gather for a welcome circle: introductions, intentions and the shape of the week ahead.
The rhythm
The daily tide of yoga, tonics, bowls, rest and massage. By the second evening the schedule stops feeling like a schedule.
Lamu day (optional extra)
Leave at 11:00 by boat for a cultural walk through Lamu Old Town: carved doors, spice markets and seven centuries of Swahili life, then lunch in Shela village. Back by 15:00 for nourishment and afternoon practice. Charged separately; those who stay behind surrender to the peace of Cabanas life.
Deepen
The same rhythm, met with a quieter mind. Massage and reflexology are available through the afternoon, billed as taken.
The last evening
At 17:00 we board Kilindini, our teak dhow, for a complimentary sunset sail down the channel (weather permitting). Back for dinner at 19:00, then the fire circle at 20:00: a chance to connect, reflect and close the week.
Departure
A final tonic and breakfast by the sea. Boats leave by 09:00 for flights to Nairobi, and then home with full hearts and glowing cheeks.

Sailing out, closing softly.
